What an exciting start to 2013!  So much happens in the day to day College life at Suncoast.  We hope to share with you the activities that have kept students busy during Term 1.

Suncoast in Secondary SCISSA Finals

  • Term 1 News

Just one more round of SCISSA games to play on Wednesday Afternoon and 4 of our 5 teams are looking set to take a place in the finals.

Unnamed and Unclaimed Uniform Sale

  • Term 1 News

The remaining items will be offered for sale in Term 2 on Wednesday 30 April and Thursday 1 May from 3:00pm- 3:30pm in the I Block undercover area.  Profits will be donated to missions. Items for sale are of good quality and include jumpers, track suits, sports shirts, school hats and caps.

Parent Digital Café Workshops

Our first series of parent Digital Café workshops run by Mrs Frances McLaren, eLearning coach, were a great success this term. The event was run over three consecutive weeks with approximately 12 parents attending each evening.

Queensland State Surf Life Saving Championships

Congratulations to our Suncoast students Joseph McMenamin, Sunny Williams, Hamarna Williams and Jesse Molo who recently participated at the Queensland State Surf Life Saving Championships held at Kirra Beach on the Gold Coast.

Thai Link 2014 leaves this Friday

We will be spending our first 4 days on the border of Myanmar and Thailand teaching English in a High school for Burmese Refugees. The evenings will be spent running programs in 2 orphanages for younger children and for children who reside in terrible circumstances in the local town Dump.

Trivia Night 2014 - Over $1500 raised

Thank you to everyone who attended the Thai-Link Trivia night last week – what a fantastic evening!

Over $1500 was raised for our Thai Mission Trip Team who depart for Thailand this Friday.

OHSC (Outside School Hours Care) update

Our new children are thriving as we build a strong sense of community through our ‘all about me’ activities and through collaborative discussion around routines and procedures between staff and children so that they are active participants.

2014 Suncoast Debating Team

The students were well-prepared and presented a compelling case for the affirmative. They were commended by adjudicator Mr Napier, for their well-reasoned case as well as their presentation including clarity, natural gesturing and eye-contact.

Advice For Our Year 12 Gentleman

The Year 12 ladies were asked to compile a list of advice for our gentleman to assist them in how to treat a lady correctly in a formal setting.

Unforgettable Experiences on Camp

Last week our Year 12’s and our Year 9’s went off on their respective camps.  The Year 12’s to Emu Gully and the Year 9’s to a Survival camp in the Brooyar State Forest.

Breaking Records in the Pool

Congratulations from our Suncoast Family to Joseph McMenamin (Year 5) who last week competed in the Regional Swimming Carnival.

Joseph won all eight of his events, broke a few records and was age champion for 11 yrs boys.

Malaysia Netball Tour trip Countdown

The countdown is approaching for the Malaysia Netball Tour trip.  On Saturday 12 April a team of very excited girls will be boarding their plane to Kuala Lumpur together with Coach Megan Bourke and Manager Sonya Bowden.
